Volunteering at CHD

CHD welcomes both short and long-term volunteers who have a real desire to make a difference in the lives of others and feel good about what they have to give. Volunteers can teach English, support environmental education, or assist other projects. Feel free to discuss your ideas and skills with us, so we can accommodate you and your plans. This is an opportunity for you to have a truly rewarding experience during your Cambodian adventure. You can really invest yourself and your time in the service of teaching and supporting the children of CHD by making this the main reason for your trip and being supported by the CHD community.

It is important to remember you are here to help with our vision. You may make suggestions but it is not your role to force modern methodology and structure. It is important to note that things move at a slower rate in Cambodia, including change. Advice and help are much appreciated and desired, but it is essential to understand that the school has always been owned and operated by Cambodians, and that is important to us.

Potential volunteers must fill out an application and pay an application fee of $100.00 USD. This application fee covers administration fees, including arranging volunteer accommodation in Takeo and orientation in Takeo and Po Village. The fee also covers travel expenses for our Children with Hope for Development representative to meet with volunteers in Phnom Penh and take them safely back to Takeo.

We ask volunteers to also contribute a donation of at least $200.00., however we will encourage volunteers to donate more if they are able to. CHD is a small organization that relies on private donations to run successfully. Without generous donations, we would not be able to pay our teachers a living wage.

Thank you for considering volunteering with Children with Hope for Development. With your support we can better the future of Cambodia’s youth and the world.
